Motorists in Sydney’s north-west are being warned to expect delays and diversions after a crash earlier today involving two trucks.
Richmond Road, the main road from Richmond to central Sydney, is currently closed for northbound traffic after the incident. Southbound traffic is also heavy.
Northbound traffic can divert via Garfield Road West.
Emergency services launched a major operation to free both drivers of the trucks after their vehicles crashed at about 5.30am.
Firefighters and other crews had to cut the vehicles open to free them from the wreckage.
One man is in a serious condition and is waiting to be flown to hospital in an ambulance helicopter.
Motorists in the area should allow extra travel time.
Traffic in both directions is heavy.
