Residents in a town on Perth’s outskirts are being told to stay in their homes after a man was shot.

Police believe a gun was fired near the intersection of Needham Road and Murauba Close, in Wooroloo, just after 8.40am (AWST).

A man is being treated for gunshot wounds by St John’s Ambulance WA and the RAC Rescue helicopter.

The Western Australian police’s tactical response group, as well as other specialist units, are going door to door in Wooroloo looking for people they believe were involved in the shooting.

Police say any suspicious activity should be reported immediately, and residents should stay inside with the doors locked.
