The 11-year-old was rushed to Exmouth hospital after being attacked while he was in the Cape Range National Park, at the Kurrajong Campsite, this afternoon.

Onlookers administered first aid until emergency crews arrived.

9News understands he is being treated for cuts to his leg, which are serious but not life-threatening.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is on it’s way up there to provide support.

A shark alert has been issued and anyone in the area is being warned to take extra care.
