Virginia fans storm field after upset win over Florida State in bonkers college football scene

In a stunning turn of events on Friday night, the University of Virginia beat No. 8 Florida State, 46-38, in double overtime.

With the game at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, the Cavaliers fans immediately stormed the field following the upset.

The game was a back-and-forth thriller, ending with an interception from Florida State QB Tommy Castellanos to Ja’Son Prevard of Virginia.

The supporters rushed the field just seconds after the game-sealing pick and swarmed the players and coaches in a raucous scene. A fan was even seen flipping off Castellanos while celebrating Virginia’s victory.

At least one UVA supporter climbed one of the goal posts in celebration.

Under ACC field-storming rules, Virginia will owe $50,000 as a first-time offender to the Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship.

Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris had himself a day.

He had five touchdowns, none bigger than his third rushing score and game-winning four-yard touchdown run in the second overtime, followed by a successful two-point conversion to Trell Harris, which sealed the victory for Virginia.

Running back J’Mari Taylor complemented Morris’ efforts with 99 rushing yards and a touchdown, while the defense made the crucial stand in the second overtime to secure the win.

Xavier Brown added 60 rushing yards in the win.

Virginia now stands at 4-1 on the young college football season, and is just one win away from its entire total from 2024, when the Cavaliers finished 5-7.

Virginia hasn’t had a winning season since 2019 and hasn’t appeared in a bowl game since 2021.

Florida State’s now 3-1 and will undoubtedly drop from their top-10 ranking following the upset.
