Vikings acquire RB Jordan Mason in trade with 49ers amid Aaron Rodgers saga

It is safe to say the Vikings have been active this offseason.

Minnesota’s most recent move came on Saturday when the team traded for running back Jordan Mason from the 49ers, according to multiple reports.

In exchange for Mason, the 49ers will receive the Vikings’ 2026 sixth-round draft pick, along with the two teams swapping picks in this year’s draft, according to ESPN’s Adam Scheffter.

The Vikings will receive the No. 187 pick and San Francisco will get the No. 160 pick.

Mason, 25, and the Vikings also agreed on terms to sign a two-year extension, with $7 million fully guaranteed and a top value of $12 million, his agents, Jason and Michael Katz, told Schefter.

The Georgia Tech alum is set to play alongside starting running back Aaron Jones, who recently signed a two-year, $20 million deal to return to Minnesota.

Jones, 30, was picked up by the Vikings ahead of last season and set career highs in touches, carries, and offensive snaps in his first year with the team.

Minnesota has made a slew of moves in this year’s NFL Free Agency thus far, having either re-signed or acquired 10 players since Wednesday.

The acquisitions from the Vikings come as future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed that he hopes to sign with Minnesota this offseason, according to The Athletic.

The report also said Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell holds the most influence over whether Minnesota will pursue Rodgers, a 10-time Pro Bowler.
