A teenager has been caught travelling at more than double the speed limit in Victoria on Christmas morning.
Police were driving along Doyles Road, Shepparton, when they spotted a Hyundai speeding with no headlights on at about 1.30am.
The car allegedly clocked 144km/hr in a 60km/hr zone.
”Police went to intercept the vehicle when it suddenly stopped in the middle of the road as it had run out of fuel,” Victoria Police said.
“Officers were shocked to discover a 16-year-old boy behind the wheel.”

The 16-year-old allegedly returned a positive drug test for methylamphetamines.
The teen was charged with dangerous driving offences and breaching bail.
He will face court at a later date.
