Porter Davis customers say they’ve been “robbed and cheated” and claim regulators have failed to do their job.
Anil Vemula lost $33,000 in the wake of the collapse.
“They robbed us, they cheated us, they left us in the dark, we don’t know what to do now,” Vemula said, in tears.
“Three years of our savings. I have two kids, we make a lot of sacrifices.”
The Tupou family were building in Woller, in Melbourne’s north, and were on holiday when they found out the company they’d trusted with their savings had gone into liquidation.
“Saving up for four years, $30,000, it’s a lot,” Sio Tupou said.
“You knew they were going under and they just took money from families, must make you so mad, so angry,” an emotional Maria Tupou said.

The families all want their deposits, which aren’t covered by insurance, returned, and to prevent something similar happening again.
They’re calling on building regulators, including the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority, to do better.
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews has hinted at financial support becoming available in future.
“We need to establish what’s gone on here, and then takes steps and actions against anyone who has done the wrong thing and make changes,” Andrews said.

Unless they see change in the building industry, many of these families say it’s no longer safe to build a home in Victoria.
In the meantime, it’s not clear how many, if any, of the promised homes will ever be completed.
