A US woman has been named as having the longest competitive mullet in the world.
Tani Manis from Knoxville, Tennessee flaunts a 172cm long mullet and was recently named the Guinness World Record holder.
Manis first started growing her hair out in the 80s when she saw a “rat-tail” on a girl in a music video by American band Lil Tuesday called Voices Carry.
“I went to get my hair cut at a barber shop and the guy really said that’s not my hairstyle and not good on me, but I was like ‘Well, this is what I want,'” she told Guinness World Records.
She has not cut the back of her hair since February 9 1990.
“I’ve had people recognize me from 20 years ago because I’ve kept the same hairstyle,” she said.

Manis placed second in the Femullet division at the 2022 US Mullet Championships.
More than 1,000 mullet enthusiasts apply for the US Championships every year. It is the largest competition of its kind in the world.
Guinness World Records opened applications for the longest competitive mullet soon after.
Although she loves her hair, she says having the world’s longest mullet can have its downsides.
She keeps it in a plait as it can get in the way of her day-to-day life.
