Upstart Red Bulls have shot to end franchise’s 28-year title drought

The drought has not bled out as long as the 108 years the Cubs waited from 1908 before winning the World Series in 2016.

Or the 86 years the Red Sox waited from 1918 before winning the World Series in 2004.

Or the 54 years the Rangers waited from 1950 before finally hoisting the Stanley Cup in 1994.

But the 28 years the Red Bulls have waited since they were one of the original 10 Major League Soccer clubs, then named the MetroStars, surely feels as long as those droughts the Cubs, Red Sox and Rangers endured.
