A woman has been filmed lying down in front of a stopped car, seemingly trying to stage an accident in what’s suspected to be an attempt at insurance fraud.

A motorist had been driving slowly down a quiet street in Quakers Hill, in Sydney’s west, on Wednesday when a woman appeared on the road.

She calmly walked towards the car which came to a stop, before she lay down underneath the front bumper.

Moments later, a man strolled over to the car and appeared to film the woman lying on the pavement with his phone, as seen in the footage obtained by Seven News.

A younger woman then came over and helped the older woman back onto her feet.

The older woman appeared uninjured during her bizarre behaviour, while other residents were seen walking by along the footpath.

NSW Police have been alerted to the incident but have not confirmed whether an investigation will be launched.
