Police and paramedics rushed to a Fingal Bay home just after midday on Monday

A young child has died after they were found unresponsive at a home in the NSW Hunter Region. 

Emergency services were called to the Fingal Bay property about 12.10pm on Monday to find a two-year-old child unresponsive.

Police officers performed CPR on the child until paramedics and doctors from CareFlight could arrive. 

However, the child was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police have begun an investigation into the death. 

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
