Two teenagers being towed behind a boat have died after a crash in New South Wales.

Emergency services were called to a caravan park on Ski Gardens Road in Rushes Creek, about 60km north-west of Tamworth, after reports of a boating crash about 5pm today.

The teenagers, 13 and 14, were being towed behind the boat when it collided with a tree, NSW Police said.

“Members of the public performed CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived; however, they could not be revived,” police said.

“The driver of the boat – a man believed to be in his 70s – was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.”

An investigation is underway.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
