Two swimmers have been found dead in a suspected double drowning at a waterfall near Cairns.

Queensland Police say they were called at 5pm last night to two swimmers “struggling to get out of the water” at Crystal Cascades, 25 minutes drive from the city.

The pair aged 21 and 59 were found unresponsive, police said.

The area is described as waterfalls with natural pools.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics were also called.

A spokesman said the men were declared dead at the scene.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
