Police have saved two people from floodwaters in north Queensland as heavy rains continue in the region.

Emergency services were called to Klarwein Close in Gordonvale, south of Cairns, at about 11am yesterday when high-volume rain triggered flash floods.

Police rescued a 94-year-old man and a 64-year-old man and took them to safety.
