An investigation has been launched after a man and woman were killed in a crash in South Australia.

Police were called to Owen Road at Magdala, in the state’s north, at 2pm on Friday after a truck collided with a Toyota ute.

The ute then struck a power pole and took down a powerline.

The occupants of the ute, a 63-year-old woman and 67-year-old man, died at the scene.

SA Police said they were from the local region. 

The 65-year-old truck driver was not injured in the crash.

Owen Road was closed between Roennfeldt Road and Magdala Road until 12.30am.

The deaths mark the 35th and 36th lives lost on South Australian roads this year.
