Police are investigating if the two attacks, which occurred just hours apart and in both in Queensland’s Logan district, are related as they search for the gunman or gunmen.
A 58-year-old woman was shot in the front yard of a home on Bix Court in Crestmead about 3.30pm on Saturday after a man arrived at the property in a dark-coloured car.
The man began arguing with a male resident before he raised a gun and fired a shot at the resident, missing and striking the woman standing nearby, according to police.
The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A man was then injured in a drive-by shooting on Cowper Avenue in Eagleby about 9pm.
A shot was fired as a light-coloured car passed the home, hitting a man who was in the front yard.
He was taken to hospital in a non-life-threatening condition.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a dark-coloured Mazda CX9, or a white or silver Mitsubishi Lancer in either of the suburbs, or who may have relevant dashcam footage, to contact them.
