Two people are feared dead after a light plane plunged into the sea off the NSW Mid North Coast on Saturday afternoon.   

Emergency services received reports of a light plane crash in waters south of Nambucca Heads on the Coffs Coast just after 4pm. 

A witness told police he saw a light plane appear to go down out to sea near Nambucca Heads.

‘A plane wreckage was shortly after sighted in the water approx. 1.5 kms south-east of Nambucca Heads,’ s spokesperson for NSW Police said. 

‘Water Police and Westpac Rescue helicopter and other water-based assets are responding.’
