A woman and 12-year-old girl are being treated for life-threatening injuries after two people died in a road crash in regional Victoria.
Emergency services were called to reports of a single vehicle crash on Briagolong Road, in Wellington, three hours east of Melbourne, at 3.45pm on Sunday.
A 42-year-old Briagolong man and a 14-year-old Maffra boy were found dead at the scene, Victoria Police said.
The names of the four people in the vehicle have not been released.
The dead 14-year-old was believed to have been a teenager who attended Maffra Secondary College, News.com.au reported on Tuesday.
Paramedics treated the 33-year-old Briagolong woman and the young girl on Sunday.
The teenage girl suffered upper body injuries and was flown by helicopter to the Royal Children’s Hospital where she remained in a critical condition.
The woman was flown to The Alfred Hospital in a critical condition with upper body injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing.
Wellington Shire Mayor Scott Rossetti told The Age that the community was reeling after the fatal crash.
‘In small communities like Briagolong, tragedies like this will have a profound impact for years to come,’ he said.
‘Our thoughts are with family, the emergency services who attended, and all those affected by this terrible loss.’
Boisdale-Briagolong Junior Football Netball Club also issued a statement following the crash.
‘We would like to send our heartfelt thoughts to the families and friends impacted by the tragic accident in Briagolong last night and the emergency services who also responded,’ it read.
‘To our players, families, supporters and community – It’s ok to not be ok.’

The two deaths bring the total number of lives lost on Victoria’s roads so far this year up to 100, Victoria Police said.
At the same time in 2024, 96 lives had been lost on roads.
