Michael Yung, a doctor at Adelaide’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital, was attacked by intruders in his multimillion-dollar home on James Street in Gilberton about 4.20am on Monday.
Police arrested a 22-year-old man and 27-year-old woman from Thebarton over the incident in Torrensville last night.
Yung, 61, was initially taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital after he suffered serious injuries in the attack.
The man and woman have since been charged with murder, aggravated serious criminal trespass and commit theft using force.

Police confirmed detectives were not seeking any other suspects over the incident and said there was no connection identified between the arrested people and those being sought for a recent crime spree across Adelaide.
The pair will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later this today.
Anyone with dash-cam footage between midnight and 5am on Monday, within a 500m radius of James Street and Nottage Terrace at Gilberton or who has any information that may assist with the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
