Four months after NSW police foiled an alleged kidnapping attempt in Sydney and found 722kg of cocaine in a unit in Ryde, two people have been arrested in Melbourne in connection to the plot.
On December 18 2023, Police arrived at the car park of a unit in Ryde after reports of a break-and-enter, finding four people wearing all-black clothing and face coverings, armed with knives, flashing lights and zip ties.

The target of the alleged kidnapping plot was located by police later that night, along with 722kg of cocaine.

Police estimate the street value of the drugs to be over $1 billion.

Five men were charged at the time and remain before the courts.

NSW police with the drug and firearm squad then began to investigate the origins of the cocaine under Strike Force Gisbourne.

Around 6am yesterday, detectives raided two Melbourne addresses, arresting a 26-year-old man in Rowville and a 21-year-old woman in South Morang.

The pair were taken to Melbourne West police station and charged with supplying commercial quantities of drugs, and with participation in a criminal group.

They both faced Melbourne magistrates court yesterday, where they were granted strict conditional bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.

‌Police will allege the pair were working collaboratively to supply and distribute the 722kg of cocaine in Sydney.

‌Investigations under police Strike Force Gisborne continue.
