The man was walking through a carpark on Cockleshell Brace in Jindalee about 3am on Friday when he was allegedly pushed over by two men.
According to WA police, the two alleged attackers, aged 21 and 22, then fled the scene in a vehicle.
A witness to the alleged assault recounted the man’s injuries.
“He had a very bad black eye, with a lot of blood,” witness Stephen Radford told 9News.
“Blood all over his whole face, the whole lot.”
Police said the 70-year-old and two younger men were not known to each other.
The 70-year-old was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of serious injuries to his head and face.
Police arrested the two men later that afternoon.
Today they were charged with causing bodily harm, with intent to harm.
