More than 100 firefighters attended the 10th alarm call – the most severe of its type – after the blaze erupted on Randle Street and destroyed the heritage-listed Surry Hills building on May 25.

Dozens were evacuated as plumes of thick smoke drifted over the city, the exterior wall sent debris flying onto the streets and two neighbouring buildings were so damaged they were eventually demolished.

Court attendances were issued for two 13-year-old boys today after an extensive investigation.

They will face court on charges of destroying property worth more than $5000 using fire and entering enclosed land without a lawful excuse.

One of the boys has also been charged with allegedly shoplifting from a nearby grocer on the same day.

They will appear before a children’s court in October.
