Multiple people staying at the campground nearby told 9News they didn’t hear or see anything out of the ordinary.

9News understands the pair went net fishing yesterday but didn’t return prompting concerned loved ones to call officers who were searching for several hours.

The water is quite shallow but locals said even though it looked safe, it could be quite treacherous with very sudden deep areas.

Police said the deaths were not being treated as suspicious but inquiries were ongoing.
