Two bodies have been found in an estuary after a suspected drowning incident south of Perth.
A man and a woman were pulled from the water at Herron Point Boat Ramp in Birchmont, about 30 kilometres south of Mandurah, about midday.
Multiple people staying at the campground nearby told 9News they didn’t hear or see anything out of the ordinary.
9News understands the pair went net fishing yesterday but didn’t return prompting concerned loved ones to call officers who were searching for several hours.
The water is quite shallow but locals said even though it looked safe, it could be quite treacherous with very sudden deep areas.
Police said the deaths were not being treated as suspicious but inquiries were ongoing.
