In a post-shooting interview with multiple media outlets, Trump said he was saved from death because he turned from the crowd to look at a screen showing off a chart he was referring to.
“The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle,” Trump told The Post Sunday.
Speaking with the Washington Examiner, Trump said the reality had just set in as he boarded his plane in Bedminster, New Jersey, for Milwaukee.
“I rarely look away from the crowd,” he said.
“Had I not done that in that moment, well, we would not be talking today, would we?”
Trump also revealed that he had rewritten his “humdinger” of a speech which will be delivered at the Republican National Convention this week.
Supporters rally for Trump as photos show how shooting unfolded
Vision from Saturday’s rally shows the former president dropping to the ground before being covered by Secret Service agents.
Screams were heard in the crowd of several thousand people and bangs continued as Secret Service agents tended to him on stage.

Trump appeared bloody with his right fist raised in the air before he was shuffled into a security car.
The only details Trump had provided of the attempted assassination was that a bullet had pierced the upper part of his right ear and “much bleeding took place”.
“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” he wrote on his Truth Social account in the hours after the attack.
During today’s interview, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said he will now call for a new effort at national unity, noting people from different political views have called him.
“This is a chance to bring the whole country, even the whole world, together. The speech will be a lot different, a lot different than it would’ve been two days ago,” he said.
