Former President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee brought in a record-smashing $141 million fundraising haul last month, thanks in large part to Trump’s historic guilty verdict in his “hush money” trial.
The campaign took in $53 million in the 24 hours after the verdict was read on May 30 — accounting for 37.6% of the total for the month — the campaign said in a statement.
“We are moved by the outpouring of support for President Donald J. Trump. The American people saw right through Crooked Joe Biden’s rigged trial, and sent Biden and Democrats a powerful message – the REAL verdict will come on November 5th,” said Trump Campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles.
“President Trump raised $141 million this month because Americans remember the roaring economy, secure border, and peace through strength at home and abroad under Donald J. Trump, and we will return to prosperity and success when he is re-elected in November,” the advisers added.
May’s figure — the largest monthly sum to date in the 2024 cycle — included over 2 million individual donations, coming in at an average of $70.27, according to the campaign.
Twenty-five percent of the donors in May were first-time contributors, the campaign added, noting that along with “supporting organizations,” Trump took in a total of $300 million for the month.
Trump’s team and the RNC said it had raised $76 million in April and over $65.6 million in March.
President Biden’s team and the Democratic National Committee have yet to announce their numbers for May, but had raised $51 million in April and over $90 million in March.
The outpouring of support was seen in the minutes after Trump’s guilty verdict was read, with the donor website he published on Truth Social crashing almost immediately.
Trump was found guilty of all 34 counts relating to the falsification of business records to silence former porn star Stormy Daniels about their alleged affair before the 2016 election.
“The American people saw the Biden Trials for what they are – a sham attempt to keep President Trump away from voters and confined in a courtroom. It didn’t work because voters understand the clear contrast between President Trump’s record of success and Joe Biden’s failures,” said RNC chairman Michael Whatley and co-chairman Lara Trump.
“Unfortunately for Democrats, their rigged political operation has backfired in a historic way, and Republicans are in a stronger position than to FIRE Crooked Joe Biden and Make America Great Again by electing President Trump on November 5,” the RNC chairs added.
