A truck driver has been charged with dangerous driving after a three-vehicle crash left a man dead in rural NSW.

Emergency services were called to a crash between two trucks and a SUV on the Sturt Highway in Tarcutta, near Wagga Wagga, just before midnight.

A 70-year-old man driving the SUV was found trapped and died at the scene.

The two truck drivers, a 25-year-old man and 31-year-old man, were taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police declared a crime scene and began an investigation.

By 7.45pm the same day, the 25-year-old was arrested and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – driver manner dangerous and cause injury harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle.

He was refused bail and will face Parramatta Local Court today.
