A truck driver allegedly caught on camera dangerously trying to overtake across double lines and forcing an oncoming car off the road has been charged.

Footage from another vehicle’s dashcam shows the truck sitting behind cars in an 80km/h zone on Old Northern Road at Middle Dural in Sydney’s north-west.

The truck noses over the double white lines and onto the wrong side of the road as it overtakes.

The man behind the wheel of the truck, Khoda Mokbel, was today charged over Friday's close call.
The 41-year-old is from Liverpool in Sydney's west, but holds a Victorian license.
His driving record was described as woeful.

In the distance, a white SUV is travelling in the opposite direction, on a collision course with the heavy vehicle.

With moments to spare, the white car pulls off the road to avoid the truck.

The truckie allegedly returned a positive drug test when arrested at the company depot in Revesby this morning.

The driver with the dashcam reported it immediately to Castle Hill Police, offering the footage and registration and following it up with another three phone calls over the weekend.

The narrow escape comes a week after a national truck safety campaign that put drivers on notice.
