A truck carrying a huge part of a wind turbine, has wedged itself under a bridge west of Brisbane, causing delays on a major highway.

The westbound lanes of the Warrego Highway at North Tivoli have been closed since the vehicle and its load struck the overhead Mount Crosby Bridge overnight.

Traffic is being diverted onto Mount Crosby Road exit.

The Mount Crosby Bridge is also closed in both directions and is expected to be shut through this morning.

Motorist are urged to avoid the area and expect lengthy delays.
