A triple-0 operator and mother-of-two has lost her licence after she was caught riding a motorcycle at a speed a judge described as ‘beyond comprehension’.

Stacey Angeline Haif, 37, was caught riding a red Ducati motorcycle at 120km/h in a 70km/h zone on Sherriffs Road in Lonsdale, Adelaide, in October 2022.

Ms Haif pleaded guilty to exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h or more in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Magistrate Kylie Schulz slammed the mother-of-two for clearly posing a risk to herself and others on the road.

‘While the weather and road conditions were good, there was moderate traffic flow and travelling at that speed, you clearly posed a risk to other road users and also to yourself,’ Ms Schulz said, as reported by the Advertiser.

Ms Schulz said the fact that Ms Haif was a mother made her actions even less comprehensible.

‘There’s no real explanation given as to why you were travelling at that speed and engaging in behaviour that was so risky to yourself and the community,’ she said.

‘I take into account that you’re a mother with responsibilities for two children but as a mother, this type of behaviour is beyond comprehension in terms of the potential risks you imposed on other families – other children.’

Ms Haif’s defence counsel told the court that she was homeless and ‘significantly stressed out’ at the time of the offence.

She was given a $2,400 fine and will not be able to regain her licence for five months and 11 days starting June 3.
