Sydney has been hit by a wild storm which has downed trees and cancelled trains.
Sydney Airport saw a gust of 82km/h at 3.10pm, with a heavy downpour of rain also hitting the city just after 3pm.
The fierce winds are associated with a low-pressure system sitting in the Tasman Sea which is extending a cold front along the NSW coast, Weatherzone said.
A tree on the tracks at Guildford has cancelled trains between Cabramatta to Granville on the T2 Inner West & Leppington Line and the T5 Cumberland Line.
Buses will replace trains but are not yet running.
“Passengers are advised to delay their trips or allow plenty of extra travel time,” Sydney Trains said.
Forecasters issued a warning ahead of the wild weather.
The Bureau of Meteorology earlier warned of damaging winds with gusts up to 90km/h for the Blue Mountains, Sydney and parts of the Illawarra, Hunter and Mid North Coast.
The southerly buster already hit far eastern Victoria and the NSW coast with Gabo Island recording a 107km/h wind gust and a mean wind speed of 70km/h on Monday morning.
A large southerly swell will also move up the NSW coastline tonight, with warnings for water users.
Wave heights could reach five metres off the NSW central coast on Tuesday morning, Weatherzone said.
