He became trapped after falling metres from a rooftop along the Murray Street mall.
It’s not known how long he’d been there when a passerby heard his cries for help at 6.30am.
Firefighters, police and paramedics were all involved in the delicate mission to get him out.
Gareth Deeg from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the man was trapped at an angle.
He said the people who heard his cries “potentially saved that gentleman’s life”.
“He was laying flat on his back squeezed between the two buildings with his knees up to his chest,” he said.

“Perth fire station dedicated all 12 resources to it, as well as Fremantle fire station.
“The crews were able to do a vertical rescue technique, where we lowered a paramedic and firefighter down to the cavity, where we were able to secure the male.”
Firefighters say the man was in pain but able to hold a conversation.
The rescue took less than an hour after crews were able to break a window and bring the man out through a tunnel.
He was then loaded into a waiting ambulance and rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with multiple injuries, including to his legs.
