A man has died in a house fire in Guildford, Sydney's west, on Tuesday

A man has died and five people have escaped with their lives after a house caught on fire in Sydney’s west. 

Emergency services were called to Rowley Road in Guildford, 27km west of Sydney’s CBD, just before 5am on Tuesday following reports of a fire. 

Fire and Rescue NSW worked to extinguish the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the home. 

Paramedics treated a man who was found inside the home however he died at the scene. 

The man has yet to be formally identified.  

Five people who were inside the home were able to escape the flames and were not reported to have sustained any injuries. 

A report will be prepared for the coroner as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.
