A man and a woman have drowned at a popular beach in Western Australia’s south-west.

The incident unfolded at Conspicuous Beach, near Walpole, about 2.40pm yesterday.

The pair were among three swimmers pulled from the water after becoming distressed.

Police attended the scene and performed CPR.

However, a 40-year-old woman and 44-year-old man could not be saved.

A second man – aged 42 – was revived and taken to hospital.

Police said all three adults were known to each other and were visiting from the Perth area.
