A five-year-old boy has died after being knocked down by an elderly driver in a horror car accident in Sydney’s north.
Emergency services raced to Anzac Avenue in Collaroy, about 22km north of the CBD, at about 1.25pm on Sunday following reports of a crash.
Paramedics treated the little boy at the scene before rushing him to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
The five-year-old died at about 6pm that evening.
The driver, a 77-year-old man, was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital where he underwent mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established with specialist officers investigating.
‘Just before 1.30pm today, emergency services were called to Anzac Avenue at Collaroy, following reports of a crash,’ NSW Police said in a statement.
‘On arrival, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command found a boy had been struck by a car.
‘NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the five-year-old boy at the scene.
‘He was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a critical condition but died about 6pm that evening.’
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
