The alleged killer of Queensland woman Toyah Cordingley is set to land in Melbourne at about midday, after a years-long manhunt culminated in police escorting him to a flight from New Delhi overnight.
Footage showed Singh, who is expected to fight the charges against him and has denied any involvement in Cordingley’s death, brought to a window seat on the plane after he was handed over to the custody of Queensland Police in the New Delhi airport.
Once he arrives in Melbourne, Singh is expected to face an extradition hearing before he will be moved to Queensland, where he will face a magistrate later this week.
Queensland detectives have been in New Delhi for a week as the 38-year-old was transported from Tihar Prison to Delhi International Airport for extradition.
He had to complete some medical examinations, including returning a negative COVID-19 test, before he could board the flight.

Singh’s lawyers had explored a way for him to face court in Melbourne but it’s understood that legal avenue doesn’t exist.
Singh has been wanted by police since 2018, accused of fleeing the country after the body of Cordingley, 24, was found on Wangetti beach in Queensland’s far north.
He was finally found in India in November after Queensland posted a $1 million reward for information.
During extradition hearings, Singh gave a statement making it clear he wanted to return to Australia to fight the charges.
