The man suspected of murdering Toyah Cordingley is expected to arrive in Queensland today to face charges after he was extradited by Australian authorities.

Rajwinder Singh, who arrived in Melbourne from India yesterday following a years-long search, faced an extradition hearing that approved his transfer to Queensland.

He spent the night in custody in Melbourne and is expected to be flown to Queensland today.

Detectives are now securing a private jet in order to transport Singh to Cairns more securely, for his own safety.

Singh has denied any involvement in Cordingley’s death, and has said during extradition hearings he wished to return to Australia to fight the charges against him.

Cordingley’s father found her body in the dunes of Wangetti beach, north of Cairns, in October 2018, a day after she vanished while walking her dog.

Singh travelled to India shortly after her death and police issued a warrant for his arrest later in 2018.

However, he was not found in India until November last year, after police put up a $1 million reward for information.
