Fire and Rescue NSW has issued two emergency bushfire warnings this afternoon on what has been a blisteringly hot day in the state.

An emergency warning was issued for the Alpha Road Fire at Tambaroora, about 270km north-west of Sydney, just before 6pm.

“Fire has crossed Hill End Rd. If you are in the area of Alpha Rd, Hill End Rd, Ullamulla Rd & Tambaroora, seek shelter,” NSW RFS said on Twitter.

“If you are in Sallys Flat leave now towards Bathurst. If you are N of Doughertys Junction, leave now towards Mudgee.”

Earlier, an emergency warning was issued for the Cranbrook Fire at Dubbo, about 400km north-west of Sydney, and a “shelter now” warning at nearby Toongi.

“There is a bush fire in the Cranbrook area burning towards Obley Rd and Toongi. If you are in the area of Toongi, you are in danger. Seek shelter as the fire approaches. It is too late to leave,” NSW RFS said.
