An orange Holden resembled a mangled wreck after a crash in Oakford, Perth in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Local resident Brad Richardson was among the first responders, who heard the impact and ran out, attempting to give the 22-year-old driver CPR.

“Young bloke in the car and yeah got him out and did CPR on him and the coppers rocked up and they took over,” Richardson told 9News.

Despite their best efforts, the young man – named Jady Turner – couldn’t be saved and later died at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

He’s being remembered by friends as “an amazing person” who was “an idol for many people” and will be “missed by everybody”.

WA Police say two trucks with oversized loads were travelling east on Thomas Road in Oakford.

While the ute driven by Jady, followed closely by a red ford Sedan, travelled west.

The 75-year-old driver of the pilot car suffered non life-threatening injuries.

“The other two cars were travelling far too fast and didn’t have the opportunity to stop because of the speed they were travelling,” WA Police Commander Mike Bell said.

“I’ve actually seen the footage of the impact, which we won’t be releasing because it’s just too brutal and it is just, it is just shattering to watch that.”
