One of the big reasons Tom Cruise was likely invited to be a part of the coronation events may be because of his connection to William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales. As a source told The Sun, “It is a hugely prestigious event and Tom is a real royalist — plus he is now close with Prince William and Kate.”
Prince William hasn’t exactly made a secret of his friendship with the A-List actor, either. William and Kate famously walked the red carpet with the star during the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022. Cruise gushed about their relationship while there, telling reporters on the red carpet, “We have a lot in common.” He then said of William, “We both love England and we’re both aviators, we both love flying.” That came after The U.S. Sun reported Cruise actually treated the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to a private screening of the movie before it was released because he heard William was a fan of the first installment.

But the affiliation Cruise (who’s also been spotted chatting with William’s late grandfather, Prince Phillip, before) has with the royal family stretches far further back than that.
