A toddler has died after being hit by a car in Melbourne overnight.

The child was struck by the car in the driveway of a property off Esteem Road, Craigieburn, at 8.20pm yesterday.

Emergency services responded to the accident, however, the toddler passed away at the scene.

Police are talking with the male driver of the car, who is assisting them with inquiries.

Investigations are still ongoing, with the circumstances of the collision still unknown.
