Video has emerged of a three-year-old girl sitting in her mother’s lap without a seatbelt and “driving” down Adelaide streets.

The vision, obtained by 9News, was uploaded to Facebook.

It shows the mother-daughter duo beeping the horn, while joking about doing burnouts.

The mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, defended her actions in an interview with 9News.

I remember when I was a little kid, and, you know, I really wanted to see what it was like in the driver’s seat,” she said.

“Yeah, I just thought, you know, my daughter might like it.”

South Australia Police said they are aware of the incident.

They also issued a reminder, explaining any children under the age of seven needs to be in an approved restraint when they’re in a car.

Failure to comply could result in a fine of nearly $500.
