Three people arrested on a nearby street at 8.30pm were assisting police with their enquiries. It’s not known what role, if any, they are suspected of playing in the ordeal and no charges have been laid.
9News understands three cars converged on the corner of the street before one man allegedly opened fire.
“It just sounded like these three great big cracks – bang, bang, bang, like firecrackers,” neighbour Joe Coluccio told 9News.
“It was very, very scary, very frightening.”
Some residents initially thought the gunman had a bat before the shots started to ring out, prompting a major police response.
Multiple crews arrived at the scene within minutes as an emergency declaration was issued and surrounding streets were shut down for an hour.
For several hours, police attempted to talk with those in the house that was fired upon.
Many residents on Sheehan Street today were too shaken to speak on camera but some told 9News they hid inside under tables when the shots rang out.
Two women and one man were surrounded by police and the dog squad in dramatic footage of their arrest, which ended the emergency declaration.
No charges have been laid in relation to the incident.
