It’s the only known peregrine falcon nesting site in Melbourne’s CBD and it’s become the wholesome obsession for thousands.

Cameras monitoring the rare nesting birds on the building first became a social media hit during the COVID-10 pandemic.

A 48,000-person strong Facebook group was later formed, called 367 Collins Falcon Watchers, which sees thousands keenly observe the egg hatching as it happens.

Breeding season usually kicks off in August and it’s hoped this year the eggs will be able to hatch, unlike in 2023.

The livestream captures the peregrine nest 24 hours a day, attracting hundreds and sometimes thousands of peregrine enthusiasts at any given time.

Peregrine falcons have been known to nest atop the building at 367 Collins Street since 1991.

The nesting box was installed on the roof of the 36th floor by Dr Victor Hurley.
