Melbourne climbed 16 places on the list this year to claim the title of the world’s fourth best city.

The Aussie city’s victory comes months after Time Out voted High Street in Northcote the coolest street in the world.

World class cuisine and culture headlines the dossier of reasons Melbourne received the fourth spot, with a special nod to the MCG, which hosted Taylor Swift’s biggest ever concert in February last year.

Australia’s largest-ever exhibition of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s work, on now at the NGV, was also a major draw care for the coveted fourth spot.
