Mene is serving a three-year sentence for illegal use of a motor vehicle.

“He will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with one count of escape lawful custody,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

The two other men, 32-year-old Daniel Badcock and 20-year-old Osiah Pilton, were found by police at Northgate, a suburb in Brisbane more than 100km from the correctional centre, around 10am yesterday.

Badcock is serving a year for weapons or explosives offences and Pilton has a year and nine months for entering a dwelling with intent.

The prison is a low-security centre made up of a series of buildings just off the Mount Lindesay Highway.
