‘The View’ Rips Trump for East Palestine Toxic Spill: “It’s All His Fault”

The View tore into Donald Trump on this morning’s show, going after the former president for his visit to East Palestine, Ohio, on Wednesday (Feb. 22), where he met residents affected by a toxic chemical spill earlier this month.

During his visit, Trump handed out Trump Water, his own product, and attacked the Biden administration for their “indifference and betrayal” to East Palestine citizens, per The New York Times.

Sunny Hostin was not impressed with Trump’s antics, pointing to his own role in the mess that is still affecting citizens every day as they struggle with health questions and safety fears in the aftermath of the spill.

“When you allow companies to not be good corporate citizens and grade themselves, they themselves an A every single time,” she said, before adding, “We saw a real shift when it came to deregulation and the Trump administration.”

While Alyssa Farah Griffin said it was “good politics” for Trump to show up in East Palestine, not everyone was so favorable toward the former president.

Behar accused Trump of trying to “push his brand” in Ohio and Hostin agreed, suggesting the Trump Water stunt was similar to the “Hurricane Maria paper towels” incident, in which Trump threw rolls into a crowd in Puerto Rico back in 2107.

Griffin pushed back, reminding her co-hosts East Palestine “is Trump Country,” where “he won by 40 points,” but Behar wasn’t swayed.

“I don’t know why they would ever vote for him … he placed somebody with deep ties to the chemical industry in charge of the EPA’s Chemical Safety Office,” Behar said, before looking directly into the camera and pointing a finger at the lens as she told viewers, “That’s who you voted for in that district: Donald Trump, who reduces all safety.”

While Sara Haines suggested Trump resonated with residents of the town during his visit to a local McDonalds, Behar said, “they need to look past the photo ops and say, who’s doing the job here?”

Haines and Griffin were in agreement that Trump “showing up” was a “big thing,” but Hostin sided firmly with Behar.

“I think this is Donald Trump’s fault,” she proclaimed, as Behar echoed, “it’s his fault, and then he shows up!”
