A Melbourne man has frightened off a pair of would-be car thieves by barking like a dog, after they attempted to make off with his Audi coupé.
CCTV footage from the property in affluent Brighton shows the carjackers approaching the vehicle.
However, the sound of the car’s engine alerted the owner.
The man could be seen running from his property, barking at the thieves.
One of them leapt out of the passenger seat and onto the roof of the car.
He then made for the property’s front gate and climbed over it.
The other bolted from the driver seat and also headed for the fence while the homeowner continued to raise a ruckus.
‘I will kill you, I will f***ing kill you,’ he could be heard yelling.

Ruff stuff: The thieves ran for the fence and climbed over it to escape the fuming car owner (pictured, the second thief climb’s the property’s gate)
He then resumed barking as the confused thieves fled.
His car, with its engine running, then appeared to roll down the driveway as the would-be thieves made their escape.
Victorian opposition leader Brad Battin weighed in on the man’s unusual method for protecting his property.
‘If it works, it works,’ he said.
‘This guy has obviously got a genuine fear and tried to find any way to get them out of the property without having any confrontation,’ he said.
