The states that watch the most porn — New York, you should be ashamed

States of arousal?

We’re the city that never sleeps — because we’re up all night watching porn. A new study by AI image generator Kalon found that the Empire State comes in second in the US when it comes to NSFW content consumption, right behind California.

Meanwhile, Texas placed third in the rankings, proving that everything’s bigger in the Lone Star State, including appetites for X-rated content.

“Porn consumption might seem like a private habit, but search data reveals just how differently adult content is explored across the country,” said a Kalon spokesperson.

Researchers with the AI firm compiled this lecherous list by using data from the Google Keyword Planner to analyze regions’ salacious search histories. They broke them down into four core categories: Online searches related to porn, online searches related to porn genres and online searches reflecting porn curiosity.

They also deduced how much time each states’ residents spend watching porn based on metrics Pornhub’s 2024 U.S. insights report.

These scores were then combined to create a “Porn Engagement Score” used to rank each state and also name the top-ranking porn category in each.

“By looking at the rate of online searches, interest in specific genres, curiosity-driven terms, and average time spent watching porn, we gain a clearer picture of how people engage with sexual content online,” a Kalon spokesperson said. ÃÅøÃâ¦Ã°Ã¸Ã» àõÃËõÃâýøúþò – stock.adobe.com

To ensure fair comparisons across the 50 states, Kalon experts prioritized skin flick-surfing per capita, although they gave some weight to total search volume where relevant.

“By looking at the rate of online searches, interest in specific genres, curiosity-driven terms, and average time spent watching porn, we gain a clearer picture of how people engage with sexual content online,” the Kalon rep said. “This is not about right or wrong. It is a reflection of digital behavior and cultural comfort. It shows where curiosity is more openly expressed and where it tends to stay behind closed doors.”

Interestingly, they noted a rising interest in animated porn in several states, which they claim suggested “a growing interest in fantasy-based formats that differ from traditional live-action content.”

Coming in first was the Golden State, which logged a whopping 137,000 monthly online searches related to porn per 100,000 people, pushing it well above the national average.

Cali-porny-a also ranked second in porn curiosity and seventh-highest when it came to average time spent watching porn at 10 minutes and 11 seconds — eclipsing the national average 9 minutes and 53 seconds.

The state’s most searched genre is animated porn.

New York placed second overall when it came to the nation’s porn hubs, although it beat out Cali in monthly online porn searches with 149,000 monthly per 100,000 peeps. Meanwhile, the most popular category among New Yorkers is lesbian porn.

Texas and Georgia placed third and fourth place respectively. Meanwhile, Washington rounded out the top five, notably ranking first in monthly online porn searches with 150,000 per 100,000 people.

The wholesome potato-producing region notably ranked second to last in monthly online porn searches with just 77,000 per 100,000 people surfing the skin-ternet.

Idahoans preferred lesbian porn, though their overall online activity indicates limited exploration of adult content, per Kahon.
