But that’s not the only error Simpson uttered that wound up in the headlines. She also made a major mistake during her wedding to former NFL player Eric Johnson in 2014.
An E! News source revealed that Johnson got choked up on his vows, and Simpson said the wrong name — speaking hers instead of his while addressing Johnson. Still, the awkward moment didn’t take away from the day’s beauty, according to what the couple told People. In a statement, Simpson and Johnson said they were entirely filled with joy after committing to each other in front of their three children and loved ones.

And further proof the flub didn’t spoil the wedding came in 2021 on the couple’s seventh wedding anniversary. On that day, Johnson shared their wedding photos, along with a touching Instagram message. “Jessica, I love you. 7 years into marriage and you still make me laugh just as hard as day one,” he wrote. “I had fun yesterday celebrating us. Our kids bring us so much joy and they could not be luckier to have such a fiercely empowered, unique, beautiful mama. I love you, babe!!!” Awwww, right?
