Yesterday, we discussed the startling claims of an intelligence community whistleblower who told reporters Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal about a secret UFO recovery program for an article published at The Debrief. David Charles Grusch, a decorated combat officer and intelligence analyst claimed that the secret program had recovered multiple pieces of material and intact craft that were determined to be of non-human origin. I need to apologize to our readers for one error in that report. I said that a lengthy interview with Grusch was “set to air this evening” at NewsNation. Along with many others, I tuned in to view it, but the network did not air anything close to the full interview. (The original interview lasted for seven hours according to Ross Couthart, who conducted it, but it could obviously be trimmed down to make it more concise.) Sadly, they only showed a little more than three minutes of the interview, though they discussed the topic at length.
I did some checking around last night with some of the people involved with the project. I’m told that the interview will air “later this week,” though I didn’t get an exact date or time. Promos are running today and I’ll update the schedule on social media when it becomes available.
In the meantime, the media blackout of this story that we had anticipated wasn’t quite as total as I had assumed it would be. There is still absolutely nothing about it on CNN’s website. There is a similar pattern of radio silence at NBC News, ABC News, and CBS. But the story did show up at HuffPo, which is kind of mainstream adjacent. And breaching fully into the MSM, Fox News ran a feature article about it.

The Debrief first reported Monday that Grusch said he filed a whistleblower complaint to Congress and the Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) on classified information that he insists proves the recoveries of partial fragments through and up to intact vehicles have been made for decades through the present day by the U.S. government, its allies and defense contractors.

So the story is slowly getting out to the wider public. But we probably shouldn’t expect much from the government, or at least not yet. I reached out to the Pentagon as soon as the story broke asking for a comment. As usual, I was contacted by Department of Defense spokesperson Sue Gough (who handles all UFO questions for them) and she issued a (mostly)flat denial as follows:
To date, AARO has not discovered any verifiable information to substantiate claims that any programs regarding the possession or reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or exist currently. AARO is committed to following the data and its investigation wherever it leads. AARO, working with the Office of the General Counsel and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, has established a safe and secure process for individuals to come forward with information to aid AARO in its congressionally-mandated historical review. AARO’s historical review of records and testimonies is ongoing and due to Congress by June 2024. AARO welcomes the opportunity to speak with any former or current government employee or contractor who believes they have information relevant to the historical review.
The reason I call this a “mostly flat” denial is that my original question to Gough simply asked if she had “any comment” on the article published at The Debrief. I didn’t even mention AARO specifically. Her response claims that the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office “has not discovered” anything related to the whistleblower’s claims. That matches up with what Sean Kirkpatrick (the head of AARO) said at the recent NASA conference. But that doesn’t mean that some other office deep inside the military-industrial complex hasn’t found such things.
It’s always difficult to get a read on what the Pentagon is saying when it comes to UFOs. They release the minimum amount of information that they can manage and they always word their responses with great care, leaving room for additional speculation. But we’ll keep an eye on this topic and if more emerges about the whistleblower or the supposed alien craft, we’ll update you.
